The former workhouse in Worcester used as temporary HQ by 81 Group Fighter Command

This story and photo has been added to the People’s war website by Marie on behalf of Norman Jenkins. Norman has given his permission and is aware of the site’s terms and conditions.

The photograph attached is just one of the many I took when commissioned in the RAF Photographic Branch and stationed at Worcester, where the headquarters of 81 Group Fighter Command were located in this former workhouse. This was only temporary, and was later moved to a much more luxurious home in the Cotswolds.
