It was 1942 and the Rushden ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Gaurd weren't on duty. Herbert was sleeping at home completely unaware of everything. Then without any warning he had visitors at the door. The Signal Corps of the Rushden ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Gaurd had come to call.

Herbert was dragged out of bed and into uniform. He had to collect his mach 5 wireless and collect the rest of the Corps.

Apparently a German pilot had landed in Irthlingborough. So they walked the few miles to Irthlingborough to the river to search for him.

They spent the whole night searching for this German. Herbert kept in radio contact with the rest of the Rushden ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Gaurd. After a night of searching nothing was found. So they returned to Rushden adn forgot all about the German.

If anyone knows about this or has any corrections to make or anything then please tell me about it. This is based on my great grandads memory and it may be a little out.
