An evacuee from London and myself were asleep in a downstairs room in a double bed. We were aged about 5, 6 or 7. His surname was WRIGHT. A bomb landed about 15/20 yards from where we were sleeping in No 2 Clare Cottages, Bletchingley, Surrey. The bomb blew out the windows and the black-out screen all of which showered us in the bed - we both remained asleep. Apparently my Mother entered the room and seeing us inert under the rubble assumed that we were mortally wounded and started screaming as Mothers do. THAT WOKE US.
