I started looking into my family's history to find details of my dad's fathers experience in world war one. I then thought I might discover something for my mum about her brother. It was very strange to do this - to be treating mum's dead brother as a topic for research. It doesn't help that my brother is named Basil after him.
His name was Basil Hewitt (E.B.S. Hewitt)and he served with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.
