These 2 stories were found in my late Mother's papers and concern my Father's war time experiences.
My father was Samuel Cyril Richard Baker and was 2nd Electrician on the SS Strathaird from 1938 until the end of 1943, the LST Empire Crossbow through the D-Day landings until October 1944 and then the SS Ranchi until demob in 1945.
The first I had seen some years ago and is his journal kept when he was part of the crew sent to the USA in 1944 to bring back the Emipre Crossbow.
The second I had never seen before and am unsure who wrote it as it is typed and not attributed, maybe someone can shed some light on it. It is I assume to do with the evacuation from Dunkirk.
