I was evacuated from Grove Vale in 1939 to North Holmwood (Holmsdale Road). Our teacher was Miss Wheeler. We shared rooms with North Holmwood school and later went to classes in the village hall at Mickleham (Dulwich Central). After that my family came to Surrey and I spent the rest of my school years at The Elliott High School in Guildford which was evacuated from Southfields, London. I used to live in Keston Road, Peckham and was June Austin in those days.
