Hello everyone, please allow me to intrduce myself. My name is Ian and I am something of a "war baby" inasmuch as I was born 3 years before war ended. My father, who was employed as a slinger in Devonport Dockyard, was transferred to Rosyth Dockyard in Scotland to assist in the repair of ships damaged in the North Atlantic. My mother and the remaining members of the family, a sister & four brothers, joined him there later. It was during that time that I was born at the height of a January blizzard. I have volunteered to work on this project not only because I believe that such a unique record should be kept but also to learn, hopefully that is, about other people born in similar circumstances.
