I am interested in all aspects of the War at Sea, especially the contribution by the Merchant Navy. I myself went through the war and was only in very serious danger on one occasion, when my ship SS Avoceta was torpedoed and sunk by a German U-boat in mid-North Atlantic on 25th September 1941. Fortunately, I was one of very few survivors to be picked up by a searching Corvette from our escort. The ship went down in two minutes, consequently there was great loss of life among crew and passengers.
