I was born in 1944 and wouldn't have been born except for the fact that my father had bad feet needing a stay in hospital during the war. All the marching got to him. During the fortnight he was in hospital all the people he had served with were killed. This left him feeling guilty at being alive, but without this piece of good luck, my sister and I would not be here, nor would my children and grandchildren!
