Joined the Royal Navy at HMS Raleigh in 1942 then to
HMS Drake at Devonport.Sent to HMS Cabbala a transit camp near Leigh in Lancs
Came back to Drake early 1943 and joined the commmisioning party for HMS Amethyst
Was in Amethyst for the rest of the war. Came home
from Sydney NSW in HMS Ranee in 1946 for demob at Devonport
The ship later became famous in the Yangtse incident
in 1949
