At school I was known as Bridie Ashworth.
To my special friends I was Birdie.
I was only 10 years of age at the start of the war. I lost contact with my school friends when I
went to work at a general hospital at Ramsbottom.
Jean Rawstron had also gone away to train as a
mid-wife. Mary Collis left to take a position as a land-lady at a place in Burnley.
I have often thought about those friends, for we always bought birthday presents for each another.
I know that Betty Simkins is still around in Rossendale.
I left Rossendale to live in Blackburn in 1971.
I use my leizure time by writng.
I am a member of the Lancahire Authors Association, the Preston Poets' Society and listed in the Writers' and Authors Who's Who.
