I was born 20 years after the conclusion of the war, but grew up surrounded by the stories and tales of that time. Those tales were a source of keen interest and of fascination as a youngster - and now - with most of the veterans in my family passing away - they are a fond rememberance. Though my writings will bear nothing of the human sacrifice and suffering that most endured in the war, I think that they are still an important contribution. It is good to remember how far and wide the echoes of the war carried. How a young farm-boy from Danville, Kansas in America could stand shoulder to shoulder with a lad from Dagenham.
