Hugh Sexey Middle School is a voluntary controlled Church of England school set in the heart of the Somerset countryside. Providing mixed state education for 8 - 14 year olds, the school prides itself on its links with the local community and its educational partners in the Cheddar Valley group of schools.

In 2004 the school formed a business partnership with ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ West with the aim of raising the student's awareness of the media and enabling them to understand the process by which news is gathered and reported. As part of this project the school organised a People's War Workshop.

War veterans from the local community were invited to the school and the students, facilitated by ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ staff, were encouraged to interview the veterans. The stories were later written up by the students and published on this website.

We hope you enjoy reading the stories.

In Feb 2005 Hugh Sexey School was awarded the 2005 Somerset LinX Education Business Award for the project.
