I am writing on behalf of my mother, Carole, who's father Henry William Ellis was killed on 7 July 1944. He was a Flying Officer with the 29th Squadron at West Malling and was killed following a dog fight over France. That night he was flying with F/LTR R Densham. Their plane was buried by a local farmer and not confirmed lost until after the war.

Harry, despite being killed when my mother and her sisters were very young (all under 5) has somehow remained a very integral part of our family almost as though he died only recently. He is frequently referred to and talked about during conversations even though none of us knew him. We have only two boys aged 5 and 6 in our family and one is named Harry the other William!
