My father, Flight Lieutenant Arthur Caygill (known as the Baron) was posted to 51 Squadron, RAF Snaith in 1943 as a bomber pilot with Halifaxes. Much of the detail in the article comes from memoirs of his bomb aimer, Ken Hurrey entitled 'Nearly a Somebody'.

I will be adding to the article from time to time as the relevant chapter extends to around 30,000 words.
