My father- W/Cmdr George W Sawkins OBE. served in Egypt for 5 yrs until Jan 1936. Then in Greece from 1944-1947.
I have hundreds of photo's,letters, postcards, diaries and other documents relating to this period, plus more relating to my parents' courtship and subsequent marriage. Of particular interest is an album of very harrowing photo's dated Nov 1941 - Nov 1942, showing 'The Social Security Association's work during the Occupation & Famine' of Athens. The photo's are of the I.K.A Piraeus Clinic - taken by D.A.Harissiadis.Any info on this would be useful.
I am collating the personal information into a book as a Family Story. I approached the Imperial War Museum who wanted the whole collection donated to them, suggesting it is an important social history record. My mother kept virtually everything so 3,000 words would never do it justice!!

Any positive comments, feedback, information, suggestions anyone has on the above will be welcomed.
