The war was a life changing event for our Dad, Danny Walsh (aka Joe later on), and those years, sights, sounds and experiences were to stay with him always. My brothers and sisters and I would often pester him to 'tell us about the war' when we were kids. And he did.
I feel that if he were here now he would certainly want to contribute his own thoughts and feelings to this important archive. These poems and writings will hopefully go a little way towards that.
Dorothy Walsh (nee Norman), Mam, was too young to join up while the war was on. But she still had the experience of living through it and has some stories to tell which I include here for her.
