My name is Steve Williams (aka stow-hist). I had often heard my father relate some of his exploits of the war years and when my ex-father-in-law also told me of his memories I began piecing them together and thought that it would make intersting reading when laid out in a chronological format at specific points throughout the war. It was very interesting to get both sides of the story from just ordinary seamen who were both just doing their jobs in extraordinary circumstances. They have since become friends and despite my marriage (which originally brought the two families together) breaking up we are pleased to still stay in touch on a regular basis and get together a couple of times a year.
I hope that others find the story of 'The War of Two Sailors'parts 1 - 5 interesting too.
