I am trying to find out about Epping Forest during world war two. I know a bit about what happened around Chingford, through reading Chingford at War. If you have any recollections of the forest during wartime please let me know. I have heard rumours about pow camps, and the pow going off to work in local farms, but i cannot find much evidence to support this. Any information you may wish to share would be most helpful. Thank you.

Postscript....

I have noe finished my exhibition. It went very well. Thanks to everyone who sent memories of information it really did help. If anyone else is trying to research world war two in epping forest, it might be worth contacting the Warren. This is the head office for the corporation of london in epping forest. They have some documents regarding the war. I don't know if they're availaible for public view ( i work there!). Also the Epping Forest District Museum in Waltham abbey is alos very good.
