I was born in Bury St Edmunds in 1935. I attended various schools between the years 1940 to 1950.

Eastgate Primary, Victoria St Primary, Feoffment School, finally the Silver Jubilee Secondary school. My war time interests as a child centred around Bury St Edmunds as this was a garison Town for the Suffolk Regiment and Rougham Airfield which was stationed by the United States Army Airforce operating the Flying Fortress.

At that time I lived in Prospect Row next door to the livestock market!
