My father, Stanley Reynolds, is 86. He was born in Earlsdon, Coventry in April 1918 when a 1st World War German Zepelin came to Coventry on a bombing raid. He won a scholarship to Bablake School and went from there to Birmingham University to study Physics. He had just started a teaching qualification at Birmingham University when the Second World War was declared and he volunteered for the army. He served in Madagascar, Egypt, Libya, Sicily & Italy in the RAMC, the Eighth Army and the Second Polish Corps.

When he was demobbed he completed his teacher training and taught Physics for a couple of years in Leeds, then for the rest of his career in Cornwall at the Truro Cathedral School & the Duchy Grammar School.

He now lives alone in Trowbridge, Wiltshire as my mother died a few years ago. Fortunately he wrote down his army memories before becoming incapacitated by Alzheimers. He can still enjoy reading his memoirs.
