I was 8 years old at the start of WW2 and had just moved in to a new housing estate in Hangleton; that's in Hove in Sussex. I had many adventures during the war, many of them quite scary in retrospect. Most of the war years, apart from evacuation to Yorkshire, were spent at Coleridge Streeet RC school in Hove. At the time my regret was that the war finished before I could really contribute. Later, my views about this changed radically!
I have written a couple of pieces about some of the things I did during the war:
'A weapons expert: at the age of 10!' and
'A happy evacuation, but...'.
My best mate through the war years was Tom Downing, who lived just round the corner and emigrated to the USA after the war.It would be nice to hear from anyone who was around at that time and place.
