The account here sets out my dad's experiences as a Royal Marine during the second world war. I asked my dad, aged 81 this year, to tell me about his experiences and taped him talking about his war. I have tried to keep the account as close as possible to my dad's own words. This year (2005) he will be attending a commemorative event at St James's Palace as a representative of 40 Commando.
