I have a genuine desire to learn as much as I can of my family history so their stories can be recorded and kept alive through future generations. I am also very proud of both my late father’s brothers who served in WW II. George’s story can be viewed on http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/ww2/A5844143 and Robert’s story can be viewed on http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/ww2/A8937219
My family, the Crombie’s, originated from Eyemouth in Scotland and Hartlepool in England. In the 1970’s and 80’s my parents, siblings and I all moved to Sydney.
I began researching George’s story in 1994, which culminated in my returning to Hartlepool in 2001 to take part in the Victory Square Rededication Ceremony.
Robert died in Sth Africa in 1998 whilst recovering from surgery and, after much effort to retrieve his personal documents, I finally received a parcel in 2001, which included his War Service records.
