Have little to say. like millions of others i was a boy when the war broke out.
I was evacuated to north Devon(barnstaple)
Did not like it all that much.; the Devon people were not
all that keen on evacuees.
in 1947 was called-up into the RAF signals
and served just over two years in the signal
HQ - HQ 90 Gp FC. Did not go abroad as would have liked
as many of my RAF friends did. Perhaps and still
think that those 27 months were very happy years.
Recruitment even for a short period would do
every man good as discipline is usually
strict. Nowadays people go to war on their own
against neighbours or other nations.
Still miss some of the old friends I made in
the signal support group; names I still
remember.
Oddly enough - never went up in an aeroplane
in the RAF.
Others like me had better times and adventures
no doubt but many others older than me were
unlike myself were involved in the war.
