I have made this contribution because time passes and it is all too easy to lose valuable memories. As you can read in my contribution, I am the son of a young Scottish mother and a young sailor from the Free French Navy, part of the Free French Forces who, under the leadership of de Gaulle continued the struggle against the Naziis in the Second World War.

My mother, like so many others, lost her young husband to the war and struggled to bring up her boys in conditions approaching near-poverty. Their contribution was equally heroic.

Time passes, and so many of that generation are passing on. Their stories need to be recorded and remembered.
