Before joining the Royal Navy at the end of 1944, I spent most of the war years in the east Cambridgeshire village of Wood Ditton where my family ran the village shop and post office. I have written about the time in a book entitled 'A Tanner Will Do' and have submitted the story to the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ site.
