Thank you for your information on U.S. Liberty Ship "Charles Henderson" destroyed in Bari on 9.4.45.
I was in Navy House at the time and the bow of the ship landed about 25m from my window.
It was the second disaster to hit Bari,the first being the bombing on 2nd December 1943 and I remember them both very well. Who could forget them?
I served in the Navy in Bari from September 1943 until March 1946 and regard that beautiful city as my second home. I should do - I married a Bari girl on 19.4.45 (just ten days after the explosion) We celebrate our sixtieth anniversarynext year and we hope that it will be in Bari. Thanks again and Buon Natale!
