Create a dramatic black dining room. With a striking black background, the addition of a soothing colour combination of soft purple, cream, and pink to bring light into the room.

Wall colour
Paint your walls white. Add accents of black in the alcoves, above the fireplace and around the window frames. Paint a wide purple stripe around the room at picture rail height. Outline the stripe with white paint. |

Floor
Strip down the wooden floorboards and paint with black floor paint. |
|
|
|
Furniture
Paint all your existing furniture black. Use strips of fabric in lilac and pink as accent colours. Drape these over the backs of the dining chairs. |
|
|
|
Curtains
Make full-length curtains in black fabric and back with a white linen lining. Tie the curtains back to reveal the white lining by hooking the bottom corner of each curtain to the wall. |
|
|
|
Accessories
Finish the room with pink candles and silver candlesticks and soft pink satin cushions. Decorate the table with a white tablecloth, chrome bowls and dress with a black china dinner service. |
