The Peter Levy Show

Join Peter for his new ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Humberside programme.

Peter's returning to his first love of live radio with his new daily show on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Humberside between 12 and 2 Monday to Friday.ÌýÌý

The programme is something a little different with alternative angles on the day's news, the "news-makers" themselves and big name guests. And there'll be lots of opportunities for listeners to join in with their stories - either on the phone, by e-mail, text or even in person.

Peter says: "We've been really pleased with the way viewers to Look North contact us and tell us which stories they want us to cover and also their own personal dilemmas which we can help find the answers to. I really do want people to "Leave it to Levy". I really enjoy asking our programme guests the questions which listeners themselves want the answers to - whether it’s the prime minister at one end of the scale or Ken Dodd at the other."

There are other ingredients in the show each day too. "Unfortunately I can’t shake off 'Hudso' - who will be joining me for a slot in the programme each day", says Peter who first broadcast on Pennine Radio in Bradford in 1975 and worked his way up on stations like Radio City, Radio Aire and Radio Leeds before being lured to bright lights of television. "Radio is a great medium - there is nothing like it for connecting with the audience and for spontaneity - and lots of chances to talk in detail about what's going on."

Peter, now a daily radio and television presenter, has lived in "God's Own County" of Yorkshire since his late teens.ÌýÌýÌý

He applied for a job on a new commercial radio station in Bradford at the age of 20 and was interviewed by renowned broadcaster Austin Mitchell, now the high-profile Labour MP in Great Grimsby.Ìý To Peter's surprise, he was hired and found himself with a career in broadcasting instead of the acting career he had set out on.ÌýÌý

There were stints on Radio City in Liverpool, Radio Aire in Leeds and then to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Leeds. TV soon followed and for years he was a familiar daytime ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ TV news reader.ÌýÌý

In 2002, he moved to Hull full time for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Look North's new nightly news programme from its new base in the city.Ìý Long gone are those teenage acting days when Peter played in some of the TV classics like Dixon Of Dock Green, The Mike Yarwood Show, Comedy Playhouse and Man About The House.Ìý

Peter says of the Hull edition of Look North: "The area has shown it deserves its own TV news programme and the viewing figures are phenomenal. I've lived in Hull for six years and it's a really fantastic area to live in.Ìý I can walk to work in the city centre in ten minutes or so."Ìý He added: "I've always found the people in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire friendly, warm and polite. I knew they would be very welcoming and I've found that they're very keen on all the things the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ now has to offer them."Ìý
