Headingley rugby stadium
The rugby stadium has staged more than 40 international rugby league matches and countless domestic finals. Both the Leeds Rhinos and Leeds Tykes have the stadium as their home ground.

Leeds St. Johns, later to become Leeds rugby league football club then in turn to became Leeds Rhinos, moved to Headingley in 1889 and built Headingley stadium.

Leeds RUFC, later to become Leeds Tykes, was formed in June 1991 after the amalgamation of two clubs, Roundhay and Headingley.

In July 1998 Leeds RUFC became part of the world's first rugby partnership, Leeds Rugby Limited.

Headingley cricket ground
Headingley cricket ground adjoins the rugby stadium via a shared main stand. It has seen test cricket since 1899 and can hold a capacity of 14000.

Headingley spectators have been lucky enough to witness some of the greatest moments in cricket. The most memorable innings probably being Geoff Boycott's hundredth hundred, made against Australia in 1977.

Headingley also provided the stage for the most dramatic comeback in test cricket in 1981, when England beat Australia by 18 runs. The bookies had England at 500-1 after being 227 runs behind and they were 135-7 in their second innings.

Botham with the bat and Willis with the ball worked miracles and claimed victory for England.
