I visited
the Arcazaar luminarium in Millennium Square in Leeds on the first
day it opened.
These photographs weren't taken with an expensive professional camera.
I used a simple point-and-click 3-megapixel digital camera.
The light inside the luminarium was so intense and contrasting,
the camera refused to focus properly. But I carried on regardless
and started to get some really great results.
For most of these shots I turned the flash off, which meant the
shutter stayed open longer to let in light and created the motion
blur you can see in some images.
My favourite zone was the blue one. Not only because it is my favourite
colour but also because it looked so fantastic when photographed,
with the red from the next zone seeping into the shot.
I recommend a visit to a luminarium to everyone, but especially
those of you interested in creative photography
