Meet some of the animals at Tropical World

Down at Tropical World you can join the animal keepers for a tour of the animals in Creature Corner and meet some of the smaller residents.

Hissing Cockroach
Fancy stroking a hissing cockroach?

During Meet the Keeper, animal keepers Judith Layzell, Mark Harrison and Paul Carpenter get out a variety of insects, snakes and creepy crawlies from their display cabinets for the general public to see and touch close up.

Children and adults are fascinated by the baby Californian king snake, meal worms and real snake skin. They touched a millipede, bugs and a Madagascan hissing cockroach - the largest cockroach in the world.

Keeper Judith Layzell took us on a tour of Tropical World where you can see hundreds of plants and animals from all over the globe.

Judith says: "Many visitors enjoy seeing the animals and this is a chance for them to find out a bit more about them and see them up close."

Meet the keeper starts at 11am, and is on Monday - Friday during the school holidays.
