For
the first time the sun has been out for a reasonable amount of time.
With the temperature rising dramatically, Jane has caught the sun
but sadly only one leg and at that only half of that.
Sault
is 700 metres above sea level but on a valley bottom. Mont Ventoux
summit can be seen in the distance and from this angle looks tame.
Mont
Ventoux has the highest recorded wind temperature on earth which
is believeable as from the Avignon side there was a fair breeze
brewing up. Jane's back has been deteriorating over the last couple
of days causing a n increasing reliance on painkillers. With 14
days cycling done on the bounce Jane's carrot is a promised rest
day for Tuesday.
The
scenery in Provence is breathtaking. Today's ride is 50 miles over
a difficult terrain. For a year Jane has been looking forward to
tomorrow.
As
they were cycling today they chanced upon two Yorkshire cyclists
also heading towards Sault, who had heard that Mont Ventoux was
closed due to inclement weather. I think that Jane would have cried
at that news but fortunately the road is open and the challenge
awaits.
