The
final rest day of the tour although there are a further three easy
days left. By necessity Jane won't be cycling far on Wednesday in
Paris.
Jane
was due to cycle from one side of Paris to the other on Wednesday
but as she is now staying at the British Embassy that day's cycling
is redundant.
From
Calais to Folkestone there will be a short cycle. Also through London
the day will be short. Conversely the three days now to Paris are
all long with a total distance of 230 miles.
Route
planning and distances were difficult to plan. It was geared around
Jane's illness and the knowledge that over five weeks there could
be some days she would be too poorly to cycle. As it's worked out
she's kept bang on schedule so the rest stops have been unnecessary
from a making up time perspective.
The
distances are also reflective of the terrain. Clearly it would not
be wise to cycle 80 mile sections each day over the Alps but through
the heart of France they are achievable.
Both
Luke and Jane while enjoying the break from the rigours of the journey
would prefer to be on the move as their families and home become
closer.
There's
a strong sense that if they manage the next three days the worst
will be over.
