The first
of three gruelling days before Paris. Jane is exhausted, emotional
and relieved after a long day in the saddle. Seventy four miles were
completed today taking the total to over 1100.
Jane's back is very sore with the pain from a cancer site making life
very uncomfortable. It's hardly surprising that after three weeks
riding that the effects of the journey are catching up with her.
Today
wasn't helped by cycling into a headwind all day. There were also
mechanical problems with the bike which led to an hour long delay
as both tyres had to be swapped over. Because of Jane's illness
an unplanned stop such as this can add to her discomfort.
Tonight
she has managed to eat but it will be bed immediately after dinner.
Tomorrow's leg is a further 80 mile. Fortunately the temperatures
have cooled much to the pleasure of every one on the road.
There
are only 15 days left now and time as well as miles are spinning
by. We hadn't planned the finish on Leeds up to this point as it
seemed very presumptuous.
It is hoped that it will take place at 1:30pm outside the Town Hall,
in Leeds (Monday 7 June 2004). Jane is looking forward to Paris
and her luxurious stay at the British Embassy.
One
final note the fund-raising has reached 68,000 many thanks to all
those who have supported the appeal. It does make a difference.
