Well
I was beginning to think Jane was superwoman but tonight I can rest
assured that after 22 days in the saddle she has a sore backside.
On
a serious note the pain that Jane suffers on a daily basis is very
real and unrelenting. She underplays her discomfort all the time,
an almost nonchalant attitude to something that would envelope other
people's lives.
She
has today completed a further 66 miles taking the total to 1176.
We are trying to increase the distance of Saturday's stage dramatically.
Whether
this is wise remains to be seen but due to the fact this weekend
is Pentecost and a national holiday in France accommodation was
difficult to find. Coupled with this the northern French coast is
preparing for the D-Day celebrations it has made planning difficult.
Tomorrow
is major event of the ride as Jane will cycle to the French capital.
It's a long days ride and on the back of 142 miles in two days it
could be difficult day. Media pressure will also increase which
puts a strain on everyone.
As
if things were not conspiring enough against smooth progress there
have been mechanical problems with the bike. A problem with the
wheel has led to tyre troubles and replacements will be required.
Today's stage was delayed whilst the spare wheel was brought out.
Still things can only get better...

the full diary and bike route.
