An
early finish today at 3pm local time for the 50 mile journey into
Alassio. Jane was quite emotional after speaking to the kids last
night and with 27 days cycling left she felt flat. It was a relief
therefore to be cycling only 50 miles.
Tomorrow
a major landmark as she crosses the border and heads into France.
Tomorrow's ride is expected to be tough but all day she will have
Monaco to look forward to.
The
only downside was that the hotel prices were much more expensive
than anywhere else on the journey.
Jane's
body is due a break and the conversion of the rest day was probably
ill advised on my part. The mountains of Southern France and especially
Mont Ventoux on Monday are looming large.
There
is both fear and anticipation of what will be the undoubted cycling
highlights of the tour. It would not be a true challenge if there
was not an haute category mountain climb on the ride.
Before
the mountains it's the glory legs of the French Riviera. We have
had a lot of contact from Brits on the South Coast of France who
want to cheer Jane and Luke on... I think they may need it.

the full diary and bike route.
