Leeds
will be "on the run" as thousands of runners take to the
streets of Leeds for the Leeds Half Marathon on Sunday 16 May.
This
year has seen over 3,000 people enter the Half Marathon and there
has been a record number of women runners applying taking part.
On
Sunday over 4,500 people in total from accross the country will
will be taking part in the Half Marathon, Corporate Challenge and
Fun Run.
The
event starts at 10am in Millennium Square and will follow the same
city centre route as previous years.
This
year sees a new format for the event and for the first time in 24
years the main attraction will be the Leeds Half Marathon rather
than the full 26 mile distance.
The
official charity will be ChildLine and the event will hopefully
raise thousands of pounds in sponsorship to help support their work
in Yorkshire and the North East.
Some
road closures
will take place in Leeds city centre when the event takes place
on Sunday 15 May 2004.
If
you are taking part in the event and want to tell us all about it,
or would like to leave a message for someone who is running, e-mail
us at leeds@bbc.co.uk.
