The Winner

The Beat on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Leicester offered a LOCAL band the chance to open the MAIN stage at this year's Summer Sundae Weekender at De Montfort Hall in Leicester.

More than 130 bands registered from all over central England.

Over 22,000 people voted via the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Leicester website, and over 1,000 of those votes were for Fazed.

Fazed will now get to perform on the same stage as The Magic Numbers and The Divine Comedy on Friday 10 August 2007.

The Prize

It's an amazing one!ÌýAs well as opening the main stage, Fazed will be featured on The Beat and ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ East Midlands Today.

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ 6 Music will also record their set for possible broadcast - and the band will get to keep the full recording.

Meet the band

Fazed are Dave Sherratt (vocals/guitar), Anthony Fox (bass), Mike Luff (drums) and Tom Geraghty (lead guitar).

They're from Leicester and they describe their sound as a, "powerful, upbeat, Indie/Rock explosion!"

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Leicester's Bridget Blair caught up with Dave and Anthony...

Among their influences are music legends like The Smiths, Paul Weller, Oasis, and The Beatles, as well as local boys Kasabian.

"We're absolutely over the moon, we're just really really happy that all those people voted for us - it was about 1,000 votes.

"It's absolutely brilliant - there were some really good bands we were up against, so to come out on top was fantastic."
