Leicester Caribbean Carnival 2007

The Carnival is Back!

Leicester gets a taste of the Caribbean! Sejal went along to experience the vibrant atmosphere of the carnival and to see if this year was better than all the rest. Take a look at the pictures and listen to the interviews.

The Caribbean Carnival is an annual event which takes place at the Victoria Park in Leicester every summer.

"In true Caribbean style, the park was buzzing with the vibrant and friendly atmosphere created by everyone!"

Sejal Sharma, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Leicester Blast Reporter

Following the unfortunate cancellation of the carnival last year, this year organisers were determined to bring the bright and vibrant carnival back to Leicester with even more style and flamboyance.

In the company of the beautiful weather, people of all ages turned up to enjoy the numerous activities. There were bouncy castles, a fun fair, entertainment from local artists and dancers performing on stage to a multicultural audience, which is what the carnival has become famous for.

In true Caribbean style, the park was buzzing with the vibrant and friendly atmosphere created by all the people attending as well as the bright colours of the performers' costumes.

Leicester's Got Talent!

There was live music and performances of both dance and drama showcasing some of Leicester’s most promising artists.

The audience was filled with wonder and delight by the talent and dedication of all the people who took part in this carnival. This certainly helped to get everyone in the spirit and dance along to the music.

Of course, I must state that there wouldn't be good festival without all the delicious food and drink that was readily available at the food stalls, and again this year the Caribbean Carnival certainly did not disappoint the people.

With freshly cooked tasty offerings ranging from jerked chicken to fresh coconut juice!

Happy Families

The carnival succeeded in not only at bringing the community together, but it marked a celebration and reminded us of the multicultural city we live in.

I thought it was definitely a very satisfying feeling to look around and watch the interaction between people of all ages and backgrounds. There was a show of respect and appreciation that extended beyond cultural differences which unified everyone on the day.

The atmosphere was filled with the electric air of happiness, and seeing the jovial laughter of children and family and friends and buzzing Caribbean and reggae music was amazing!

For those of you who missed out on the carnival this year, I would strongly recommend coming next year and have a taste of the whole event, I know I cant wait!
