Eighteen days of Manchester International Festival

Help

The 2011 Manchester International Festival has closed after bringing a host of artistic, musical and cultural firsts to the city.

It was the city's third showcase of original commissions which began with Icelandic singer Bjork and closed with a rare gig in a road tunnel by heavy pop band WU LYF.

Highlights included a play by performance artist Marina Abramovic, an opera by Blur's Damon Albarn and an interactive show based on Doctor Who.

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ North West Tonight talked to the contributors, including Johnny Vegas and Victoria Wood, the organisers and the audiences.
