Keiron Tourish

Keiron started life as a "cub" reporter on the "Derry Journal" newspaper. He learnt his journalistic trade under a lot of the North-West's seasoned professionals.

Keiron Tourish

Life was tough back then - he began every day by buying fresh baps in the morning and collecting the papers for senior colleagues. Later he gained valuable first hand experience of covering the troubles as well as the courts and councils. A mixed bag of stories which included reporting sport for the paper.

He joined ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Foyle in 1990 and spent several years in a busy newsroom before becoming the region's television reporter for the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½. He has interviewed poets, presidents and prime ministers but nothing was as taxing as being chased by an ostrich - all in the line of duty.

Sport remains a passion and Keiron still likes to cover and play soccer. He's a former Northern Ireland Youth international striker and played in the Irish League and League of Ireland with several different clubs. Married with twin boys - Patrick and James - Keiron hopes they will one day grow up and become proper centre forwards
