Here I am.

I lay on golden sand,

surrounded by happy

people, and watch the

wispy white clouds

go by.

I smile, and close my eyes

listening to the gentle

lapping of waves,

and the rustle of

palm leaves in the

gentle breeze.

I feel the warm sun on

my tanned face,

as I lick my

lips and think of the

delicious food I will taste.

The aroma of

sea salt floods into

my nostrils

and I open my eyes,

to the wonders

that surround

me.

This is the land where

the fish swim

and the birds soar,

and everyone is

carefree and

blissful.

I know that the

week ahead of me

is to be one of

the best I will ever have.

It will be a week of

late nights,

refreshing dips,

sunsets and sunrises

lie-ins in comfy beds,

parties

and warm, cosy feelings.

I am in paradise.

Where I come from

it is rainy, busy and

dreary.

By coming here

I thought I

could take a break

from my normal,

hum-drum

life.

Here, I am free

to do as I please.

I can ride

in the sea on

the backs of blue horses

with frothy white manes.

I can learn a new language

or skill that will be

with me forever.

I can explore

or rest.

I can sleep

or be awake.

I can be in the water,

sky or on land -

it’s my choice.

I am happy

here.

Yet deep

down inside me

I feel empty.

It is as though there

is something missing.

But what?

I have everything

I want

here.

At least, I

think I do.

Confused, I look

around me, at the haven

I am in, and wonder.

I decide to try and

not let it spoil the

great time

I am going to have.

Smiling, I close my

eyes again,

and I dream of the thing

I now realise,

that I am longing for.
