Desire
by Jim McClean
Ìý
I asked my soul a question
I didn`t want no lies
Are the fires within me
Ever to arise?
Ìý
I gazed upon a gaunt figure
A tired and twisted man
Realising my reflection
That moment my life began
Ìý
For too long I've been too cautious
For too long I`ve been too lonely
For too long I`ve been too sad
No more `if only`
Ìý
The flames of desire
Although covered in barbwire
Will lift me from this quagmire
From now i will inspire
Ìý
Now I excitedly dream
That I will reign supreme
Like the cat that got the cream
For its true I`ve been redeemed.
