Man adjusting woman's costume
Is he using divine thread?

Hazel Smith

Hazel lives in the Knareborough area and has been writing for around five years. She recently decided to further her experience of writing by taking up an English degree. You can listen to one of her latest stories, Divine Thread, right here.

About the writer

I am in my thirties and currently studying for an honours degree in English Language and Literature. Apart from my family, my big passions are writing and music. I started writing seriously about five years ago and have recently contributed a review to this website. I believe that you should write when inspired, but I also believe in the power of a deadline.

The Creative Process

The idea for Divine Thread came to me about two years ago. It was inspired by the people I encountered at a local chapel, their lives, the principles they held dear and the lengths they would go to in order to get their particular points across.

I’ve learnt a lot, mainly through trial and error, and firmly believe that you should put yourself out there, whatever the result. You have to believe in your own capabilities because there will be occasions when you only have yourself to rely upon. Ask for advice and be prepared to take it, but at the end of the day you are the only one who really knows your own work, so don’t be afraid to go it alone.
