The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s flagship news programme, Newsnight, to be broadcast globally on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ World

Ìý

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ World is set to expand its news programming with Newsnight, the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s hard-hitting weekly news programme featuring some of the toughest interviewers in journalism. The fifty minute long programme will be broadcast on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ World, on Saturdays at 07:10, 15:10 and 21:10 GMT starting on 1 March.

Newsnight comes from the same team that produces Britain’s long-running nightly programme of the same name. The international-facing weekly version will showcase the best of its award-winning blend of features, investigations, interviews and discussions. The show is anchored by some of the most respected names in British journalism, including Jeremy Paxman, Kirsty Wark, Gavin Esler and Emily Maitlis.

Richard Sambrook, Director of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Global News and CEO of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ World, says," News and news programming is at the heart of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s international services, so it’s fantastic that we’re now able to bring one of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s most famous news programmes and it’s most respected presenters to our international audiences.â€

The new international edition of Newsnight, which will also be aired on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ America in the U.S., was conceived and commissioned by Executive Vice President, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ News and Sports in the U.S., Michele Grant.

Grant, who is also Executive Producer of the new show, says, “Newsnight is one of the very best shows in television journalism - it’s fearless. It asks the questions that beg to be asked but rarely are. If you want to get answers, really get answers, to the important questions, understand what happened this week and what mattered, Newsnight is for you.â€
