ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Worldwide and Sherston sign deal to produce new software for primary schools

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Worldwide signed a deal today at the World Education Market in Lisbon with Sherston, one of the leading education software suppliers in the UK, to develop a new range of core subject CD-ROMs for primary schools (ages 4-11).

The CD-ROMs will feature some of the most popular characters from the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Schools' learning programmes and will cover a selection of core subjects including literacy, history and geography. The five initial titles include Magic Pencil, Words and Pictures, Magic Grandad and Barnaby Bear. Further titles are expected to be added to the range in 2003.

Commenting on the new CD-ROMs, Susan Ross, Head of Educational Publishing at ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Worldwide, commented: "With the current trend towards an ever greater use of IT in the primary school classroom, working with a company like Sherston, which has proven expertise within the UK school software market is a great opportunity.

"ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Schools' learning characters like Magic Grandad and Barnaby Bear are already familiar to primary school children not only in ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Schools programmes, but also in our existing publishing range which includes reading books, videos and teachers resources, so we are confident that these CD-ROMs will provide a poplar extension to the range."

James Bayliss, Sales & Marketing Director at Sherston, added: "This deal is the ideal opportunity to utilise our own knowledge and appreciation of the increasingly important role of online learning in the primary school market to bring this vital additional learning dimension to characters that are already a well-known brand in the classroom."
