UPC
Poland, Poland's leading cable operator, and ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ PRIME, the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s
international entertainment channel, announced today that they have
signed an agreement for the distribution of the channel in the UPC
Poland cable networks.
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½
PRIME will launch in the UPC cable networks within a few weeks.
The channel will be offered to all customers of the UPC Telewizja
Kablowa basic package. Providing viewers with English programming
subtitled in Polish, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ PRIME will be a very valuable part of UPC's
educational programming offer.
Wayne
Dunsford, Director of Channels, EMEIA, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Worldwide, says, "Poland
is a very important market for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ PRIME. The decision to offer
Polish subtitles has been actively supported by the Polish Ministry
of Education who perceive it as a new way to teach and learn the
English language. We are delighted we have been able to finalise
the agreement with UPC in Poland for the carriage of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ PRIME across
their networks. This deal is a very positive, further development
in our relationship with UPC across Europe. We are very much looking
forward to working with the UPC Polska team to make ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ PRIME a
success in Poland."
Simon Boyd, Chief Executive Officer, UPC Poland, says, "ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½
PRIME is a very valuable addition to our programming offer. Its
educational and entertainment value is indisputable, and I strongly
believe that high quality ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ PRIME programming subtitled in Polish
will attract a wide audience among UPC customers. I am happy that
we can open the New Year with such good news. Our decision to distribute
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ PRIME complements the long-standing educational focus of our
company, as exemplified by our Rainbow Academy project for children."
As
a result of the agreement with UPC and previously secured agreements
with other leading Polish cable operators, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ PRIME now reaches
a total of nearly 1 million subscribers in Poland.
