24.03.03 Europe
poised to give a big welcome to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ children's programming
NRK
in Norway is set to get that Fimbling feeling, RAI Educational in
Italy gives a big Flobbadob hello to Bill & Ben, whilst ERT
in Greece welcomes Bella, Milo, Jake and Fizz to their schedule,
as on the eve of MIPTV 2003, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Worldwide has licensed over 100
hours of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ children's programming to major broadcasters across
Europe.
NRK
in Norway is the most recent deal for the Fimbles, the latest addition
to ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Worldwide's pre-school portfolio, launched at MIPCOM 2002.
The series has already been licensed to the ABC in Australia, TVB
in Kong Hong, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ KIDS in Canada, MNET in South Africa, RTE in Ireland
and RTP in Portugal - with negotiations taking place with broadcasters
in the USA, France, Italy, Spain and Korea.
Aside
from licensing 135 episodes of Tweenies, ERT has taken 100 episodes
of Teletubbies and 52 episodes of Andy Pandy for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Playtime -
a ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ branded slot showing the best of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ produced and commissioned
children's programming.
RAI
Educational in Italy has also picked up all 26 episodes of Angelmouse
and the pre-school series Binka.
Alison
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½wood, Deputy MD, EMEIA, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Worldwide, said: "These extensive
deals are a tribute to the unique combination of entertainment and
education that gives ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s children's programming its worldwide
reputation. ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Worldwide licensed over 1500 hours of children's
programming across Europe in last financial year and with such huge
sales on the eve of MIPTV I am sure we will beat this figure for
2002/03."
